Tobi Amusan Wins Silver at Tokyo 2025 World Championships

Nigeria’s sprint queen, Tobi Amusan, has once again etched her name among the world’s athletics elite after winning silver in the women’s 100m hurdles at the Tokyo 2025 World Championships on Monday.

Amusan clocked an impressive 12.29 seconds to finish second in the fiercely contested final. Switzerland’s Ditaji Kambundji emerged champion, setting a new national record of 12.24 seconds, while the United States’ Grace Stark clinched bronze in 12.34 seconds.

Just missing out on the podium was another American, Masai Russell, who finished fourth with a time of 12.44 seconds.

The medal is a significant achievement for Amusan, who has consistently flown Nigeria’s flag high on the global stage. Her performance in the final came on the heels of a strong semifinal run, where she posted 12.36 seconds to qualify with confidence.

Amusan, a former world record holder, showcased her trademark grit and determination to secure yet another podium finish in a highly competitive field, reaffirming her place as one of the finest hurdlers in the world.
