A vigilante group known as “Yan Sakai” in Ningi Local Government Area of Bauchi State has apprehended two notorious kidnappers, identified as Yellow and Sallau, who have been terrorizing the region. T
he suspects were paraded before the Emir of Ningi, Alhaji Haruna Danyaya III, after their arrest. They confessed to a series of heinous crimes, including the murder of Hardo Bombi after collecting a ransom of ₦2 million and the killing of Sarkin Lambu for which they extorted ₦7 million.
In a video shared on the Ningi Emirate’s Facebook page, the duo admitted to orchestrating numerous kidnapping incidents, revealing that they had extorted as much as ₦50 million from the families of their victims.
Yellow disclosed that they had executed three different operations in the Dogon Ruwa area, where they specifically targeted prominent Fulani leaders.
The Secretary of the Ningi Emirate Council, Usman Saleh Magayaki, confirmed the arrests and stated that the capture of the suspects followed a directive issued by the late Emir. The order called for local vigilante groups to collaborate with conventional security agencies in combating the rising wave of banditry and kidnappings in the region.
Magayaki added that the two kidnappers were responsible for the abduction of several key community leaders, including the village head of Bombi and the ward head of Lambu.
The successful operation is seen as a significant step in addressing the security challenges plaguing the Ningi Emirate. Authorities are continuing efforts to eradicate kidnapping and banditry in the area.
