Federal Government Warns Private Employers of Jail Terms for Paying Below N70,000 Minimum Wage

The Federal Government has issued a warning to private sector employers paying below the newly implemented minimum wage of N70,000, stating that violators risk jail terms.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Labor and Employment, Kachollom Daju, made this clear during the 13th Annual General Meeting of the Employers Association for Private Employment Agencies in Ikeja, Lagos.

Represented by the Director of Employment and Wages, John Nyamli, Daju emphasized that the new wage is now law, and employers must comply to avoid legal consequences.

The government reiterated its commitment to enforcing fair labor practices and ensuring workers receive their rightful compensation.
