Four hundred Nigerians, including 90 females and 310 males, have been deported from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and returned to Nigeria.
The deportees arrived at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, where they were received by a team of officials and representatives from several government agencies and organizations.
The returnees were welcomed by a coordinated effort from the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI), the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), and other key stakeholders involved in managing the return and rehabilitation process.
The deportation comes amid ongoing discussions about the conditions and treatment of Nigerians abroad, highlighting the need for better support systems for citizens facing deportation.
The agencies involved are tasked with providing assistance to the returnees, including support for reintegration and addressing any immediate needs or challenges they may face following their return.
The Nigerian government has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the welfare of its citizens both within the country and abroad, emphasizing the importance of coordinated efforts to manage the complexities associated with international deportations.
