Federal Government Allocates N47.5 Billion for Upgrade of 50 Senior Secondary Schools

The Federal Government has earmarked N47.5 billion for the initial phase of an ambitious project aimed at upgrading 50 senior secondary schools across Nigeria.

Dr. Iyela Ajayi, the Executive Secretary of the National Senior Secondary Education Commission (NSSEC), disclosed this during the groundbreaking ceremony for the Government Science Secondary School (GSSC) Koton Karfe in Kogi State on Wednesday.

Dr. Ajayi outlined that the N47.5 billion allocated is designated for the first phase of the project, which focuses on improving infrastructure and educational facilities at the selected schools.

This initial phase is a precursor to further upgrades planned for other schools across the country.

He emphasized that upon completion of this first phase, a report will be submitted to President Bola Tinubu and the Minister of Education, detailing the progress made.

This will pave the way for the continuation of the project and the initiation of the next phase of upgrades.

Ajayi reassured schools not included in the initial phase to remain patient, as they will be considered in subsequent phases of the project.

The upgrade initiative aims to enhance the quality of education and provide better learning environments for students nationwide.
