Hajia Dada, the mother of the late former President Umaru Musa Yar’adua, has died at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Katsina, following a brief illness. She passed away on Monday evening.
Hajia Dada’s death marks the loss of a prominent figure closely associated with Nigeria’s recent political history. Her son, Umaru Musa Yar’adua, served as President of Nigeria from 2007 until his death in May 2010.
Following Yar’adua’s death, Vice President Goodluck Jonathan assumed the presidency and was subsequently elected as the President.
The Yar’adua family has yet to announce the details of the funeral rites.
Hajia Dada’s passing is a significant moment of reflection for many who remember her as the mother of a key Nigerian leader and as a respected figure in her own right.
