President Tinubu Addresses Nation Amidst Nationwide Protests

In a recent address, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu spoke to Nigerians about the nationwide protests that began on August 1st.

Acknowledging the serious unrest and violence that has accompanied these demonstrations, he expressed deep sympathy for the families who have lost loved ones and the broader impact on the nation.

The President noted the extensive damage and resource strain caused by the violence, emphasizing the need for rebuilding and recovery.

Tinubu affirmed his commitment to maintaining public order and ensuring the safety of all Nigerians. He urged for the suspension of further protests, advocating for dialogue as the path forward to achieve national unity and progress. His address aimed to refocus the nation’s energy from conflict to constructive discussions.

The President highlighted several achievements of his administration despite the challenging circumstances. He noted that government revenues have been doubled through efforts to curb financial leakages and introduce automation.

Additionally, debt service has been reduced, and major infrastructure projects have been launched. These include initiatives such as the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Initiative, the MSME Hubs, and the Renewed Hope City and Estate projects, all aimed at enhancing the quality of life for Nigerians.

To address the rising cost of living, particularly for food and medicines, President Tinubu announced the suspension of duties on critical food items and medical supplies for an initial period of six months.

He also confirmed that substantial investments have been made in agricultural equipment, with billions of Naira worth of tractors and planting equipment being procured from the United States, Brazil, and Belarus.

The President also outlined his administration’s dedication to youth development through programs like the student loan scheme and the Digital and Creative Enterprises initiative. These programs are expected to create millions of job opportunities and support economic growth.

In his closing remarks, President Tinubu called for unity, urging Nigerians to choose hope over fear, unity over division, and progress over stagnation. He expressed confidence that through collective effort and determination, Nigeria can build a brighter future for both current and future generations.

The address ended with a call for continued support and cooperation from the Nigerian people, alongside a plea for divine blessings on the nation.
