Lagos to Deploy 2,000 High-Capacity Buses Through PPP Model to Enhance Mass Transit

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has announced plans to introduce 2,000 high-capacity buses into the city’s mass transit system starting next year.

This ambitious initiative will be implemented through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, aiming to enhance the efficiency and reach of public transportation across Lagos.

The announcement was made during the Lagos Investment Roundtable, which was organized by the State Ministry of Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade & Investment (MCCTI) as a precursor to the African Social Impact Summit (ASIS) held in Lagos on Wednesday.

The event provided a platform for discussing significant investment opportunities and developmental projects within the state.

The deployment of these high-capacity buses is part of a broader strategy to improve Lagos’s public transport infrastructure, reduce traffic congestion, and provide a more reliable and comfortable commuting experience for residents.

By leveraging the PPP model, the state government aims to attract private sector investment and expertise, ensuring the successful implementation and operation of the new bus fleet.

Governor Sanwo-Olu’s announcement reflects Lagos State’s commitment to modernizing its transport system and addressing the challenges of urban mobility.

The introduction of these buses is expected to significantly contribute to the development of Lagos’s public transport network, supporting the state’s growing population and economic activities.
