On Wednesday, July 17, the Senate announced the removal of Senator Ali Ndume (Borno South) from his position as Chief Whip. This decision follows recent controversies involving Ndume’s public criticism of President Tinubu.
During a plenary session, the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, revealed the results of a voice vote in which members of the APC Senate Caucus endorsed Ndume’s removal.
Tahir Mungono (Borno North) was named as Ndume’s replacement. In addition to this change, the national leadership of the ruling party, APC, issued a letter to the Senate Caucus demanding that Ndume resign from the APC and consider joining an opposition party.
The letter, which was signed by the party’s national chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, and Secretary, Barrister Ajibola Bashiru, underscores the party’s firm stance on maintaining unity and discipline within its ranks.
