The Obama family has announced the passing of Marian Robinson, the mother of Michelle Obama, at the age of 86.
Robinson passed away peacefully on Friday morning, leaving behind a legacy of strength and unwavering support for her family.
Michelle Obama shared her sorrow on her X account, expressing how her mother had always been a pillar of strength and a constant source of support. “My mom, Marian Robinson, was my rock, always there for whatever I needed.
She was the same steady backstop for our entire family, and we are heartbroken to share that she passed away today. We wanted to offer some reflections on her remarkable life,” she wrote.
Former President Barack Obama also paid tribute to his mother-in-law, writing, “There was and will be only one Marian Robinson.
In our sadness, we are lifted up by the extraordinary gift of her life. And we will spend the rest of ours trying to live up to her example.”
Marian Robinson played a significant role during Barack Obama’s presidency, residing in the White House for eight years.
She was instrumental in caring for her granddaughters, Malia and Sasha, providing a stable and loving presence during their formative years.
The Obama family is deeply saddened by her passing but remains grateful for the extraordinary life she led and the indelible mark she left on their lives.
