Kano Islamic Clergy Urge President Tinubu to Prevent Escalation of Emirship Dispute

The forum of Islamic clergy in Kano, known as Ulama, has called on President Bola Tinubu to intervene in the ongoing emirship dispute to prevent potential disruption of law and order in the state.

In a statement signed by 18 members, including prominent clerics, the Ulama stressed the importance of maintaining peace and urged Tinubu to ensure the situation does not escalate into violence.

They emphasized the need for civil resolution of the conflict and the cooperation between state and federal governments.

The tension follows the order for the arrest of the deposed Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, and the reappointment of Muhammadu Sanusi II as the 16th Emir of Kano by the state governor.
