The Oyo State Government has scheduled the state burial ceremony for the immediate-past Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun, on Saturday, June 1, 2024.
This marks the commencement of activities for the coronation of the Olubadan-designate, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin.
Following the demise of Oba Balogun, who passed away at the age of 81 after a two-year reign, the throne became vacant.
The state burial will be held at the main bowl of the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium in Ibadan, the state capital.
The coronation date is expected to be officially announced after the burial ceremony.
The Ibadan kingmakers submitted Oba Olakulehin’s name to Governor Seyi Makinde for approval last month.
Necessary arrangements have been made to ensure a smooth coronation ceremony.
Additionally, the newly constructed Olubadan Palace at Oke Aremo in Ibadan North Local Government Area will be inaugurated two days before the coronation, with further details to be announced.
