The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) appears poised to initiate another nationwide strike if unresolved issues continue to escalate.
Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke, the union’s president, issued a warning on Monday, May 14, 2024, indicating potential industrial action to protest the absence of governing councils in all federal universities.
Osodeke delivered this message during a press briefing held at the ASUU national secretariat in Abuja.
He emphasized that the dissolution of the Governing Councils contradicted the fundamental principles governing the nation’s universities.
Additionally, ASUU criticized the Federal Government’s perceived lackadaisical approach to academic matters within Nigerian Federal Universities.
