Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has announced his administration’s intention to establish a panel to investigate the governance of the state during the previous eight-year tenure under his predecessor and political mentor, Nyesom Wike, who currently serves as a minister.
Governor Fubara made this declaration on Monday following the swearing-in ceremony of Dagogo Iboroma as the Attorney General of the state. Iboroma, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), was screened and confirmed by the Victor Oko-Jumbo-led House of Assembly.
During his address, Fubara urged Iboroma to promptly establish the panel of inquiry to scrutinize the activities of the state government over the past eight years.
The governor expressed deep concern over the critical situation in the state, highlighting the apparent inability to resolve the ongoing political crisis. He accused his opponents of deliberately undermining his administration, despite his hopes for an amicable resolution.
Fubara emphasized his commitment to making tough decisions moving forward, regardless of their potential impact.
Furthermore, Governor Fubara addressed remarks made by former Attorney General Zacchaeus Adangor (SAN) and his counterpart in the Ministry of Works, Alabo George-Kelly. He accused the former Attorney General of sabotaging his administration by taking actions contrary to the state’s interests, such as filing nolle prosequi.
