Abdulmalik Sarkindaji, the Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly, has announced plans to facilitate marriages for 100 female orphans who lost their parents to banditry in Mariga Local Government Area.
Addressing journalists in Minna, the state capital, Sarkindaji assured them that he would cover the dowries for the grooms and had already procured all necessary items for the collective wedding ceremony.
As reported by Punch, the girls chosen for marriage were selected from a pool of 170, although Sarkindaji did not specify their age range.
Representing Mariga Constituency, the Speaker described the initiative as part of his constituency empowerment project aimed at alleviating the plight of the disadvantaged.
