Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has called on residents to foster a hospitable environment for the newly deployed corps members.
During the closing ceremony of the 2024 Batch A, Stream II orientation at the temporary orientation camp of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Iyana-Ipaja, Lagos, on Tuesday, Sanwo-Olu delivered this message.
Furthermore, he urged the corps members to strive for their service year to have a meaningful impact on the socioeconomic and political development of Lagos State and Nigeria as a whole.
“I implore you to accept your posting to any part of Lagos and see it as an opportunity to participate in the community development programmes, impact your host community and leave indelible legacies.
“These, your predecessors did in the areas of healthcare delivery system, educational services, social services amongst others, just as your services may be needed in the aforementioned.”
Mr. Ibukun Dosunmu, representing Sanwo-Olu on behalf of the Lagos State Ministry of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations, affirmed that the state government would continue to acknowledge and reward outstanding corps members upon the completion of their service year.
Mrs. Yetunde Baderinwa, the NYSC Lagos State Coordinator, stated in a release that the corps members had undergone various training sessions during the orientation course to prepare them for their forthcoming responsibilities.
Baderinwa advised the corps members to serve as exemplary ambassadors of the program, their families, and their communities in their respective places of assignment.
