President Bola Tinubu is gearing up to inaugurate three vital gas infrastructure projects developed by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited and its partners.
These projects comprise the AHL Gas Processing Plant 2 located in Delta State, the ANOH Gas Processing Plant, and the ANOH-OB3 CTMS Gas Pipeline Projects situated in Imo State. Together, these gas initiatives are projected to produce approximately 1,400 million standard cubic feet per day.
A statement released by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, emphasized the significance of these ventures in supporting the government’s agenda to optimize the nation’s gas resources, curtail gas flaring, and bolster domestic gas supply to propel economic progress.
The AHL Gas Processing Plant 2, an expansion of the Kwale Gas Processing Plant, plays a pivotal role in augmenting gas supply to the local market. It is engineered to process 200MMscf/d of rich gas and distribute lean gas through the OB3 Gas Pipeline, with plans to reach a capacity of 180mmscfd by the end of May.
This additional gas supply is poised to further catalyze industrialization in Nigeria and diminish reliance on LPG imports by yielding substantial quantities of Propane and Butane.
Moreover, the ANOH gas plant, boasting a capacity of 300MMscf/d, is designed to process non-associated gas from the Assa North-Ohaji South field in Imo State, producing dry gas, condensate, and LPG. This facility is primed to bolster domestic gas supply, bolster power generation, and expedite industrial expansion.
Lastly, the ANOH-OB3 CTMS Gas Pipeline Project entails the construction of a transmission gas pipeline to convey dry gas from the Assa North-Ohaji South field to the OB3 Custody Transfer Metering Station, ultimately amplifying domestic gas supply.
Upon completion and commissioning, these endeavors are anticipated to substantially augment gas supply to the domestic market, fostering an enabling investment climate and fostering equitable economic growth.
