Army Arrested Woman After Unsuccessful Bid to Traffic a 22-Year-Old Girl to Libya.

The Nigerian Army has apprehended Olushola Areke, a suspected human trafficker, in Lagos State.

Olabisi Ayeni, the spokesman of the 81 division of the army, said that the suspect was apprehended by soldiers of the 65 battalion, who are working under the 81 division, based on reliable information.

Ayeni said that the suspect was charged with the crime of abducting Fayoke Kunle, a 22-year-old daughter of an individual named Ainor Kunle.

“Mrs Kunle claimed she had voluntarily entrusted her daughter to the suspect, who had promised to secure employment for the young girl in Oshodi, Lagos.

Contrary to the promise of going to Oshodi, the suspect instead took Miss Kunle to Kano. It was at Kano that the victim realized her whereabouts and overheard conversations of being carried to Libya.

On April 23, 2024, Miss Kunle managed to escape from her kidnapper and successfully made her way back home.

As a reaction to the story, the soldiers contacted Areke, expressing their willingness to delegate more individuals to her for employment prospects.

The suspect willingly agreed to the proposal and was subsequently apprehended at the specified rendezvous site, where she planned to collect her alleged further victims.

The Ajah Police Command in Lagos has taken custody of both the suspect and the victim for further investigation, as stated in the report.
