The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested three alleged street gang members who are reported to be terrorizing the Basawa Area of Sabon Gari Zaria LGA.
ASP Mansir Hassan, the command’s spokesperson, confirmed the arrest in an interview with journalists on Wednesday in Kaduna, saying the suspects were apprehended about 16:00 hours on Tuesday.
He said, ”At about 1600hrs, when the operatives were on routine patrol and arrested the three suspects namely, Shamsu Abdullahi, Hussaini Aliyu, and Muhammad Ahmed all of Zaria City, and within the vicinity of Mammy Market in the Basawa area.”
According to him, during a spot check of the suspects, three keen stainless cutlasses and one fork-sharp knife were discovered hidden beneath their garments.
Hassan said that during questioning, the suspects failed to explain what they were doing with the deadly weapons discovered on them.
He said that the operatives’ investigation found that the suspects were part of a syndicate that had been harassing Basawa people and surrounding areas.
He said that after these results, the three individuals were quickly accused and prosecuted.
