The wife of former Benue Governor’s Chief of Staff, Hon. Terwase Orbunde, and a domestic helper who were kidnapped by gunmen in Makurdi on Friday evening have been released.
Mrs. Abigail Kashimana Orbunde and Ms. Patience Ogute were released on Tuesday afternoon after paying an unknown ransom to abductors who sought N100 million.
They were held in captivity for four days before being released.
They were reunited with some of their family members and sent to the hospital for emergency medical care.
On Friday, April 12, gunmen accosted Hon. Orbunde and kidnapped his wife and house staff while checking a farm.
The incident occurred at 6 p.m. on Mobile Barracks-Welfare Quarters Road in Makurdi, the state capital.
The former Chief of Staff fled with a gunshot wound to his right arm, while the assailants abducted his wife and chef.
Mrs. Orbunde praised God for their rescue, stating that they had gone great distances through the jungle without food or drink.
Her husband, who is being treated in the hospital for bullet wounds, thanked God and everyone who helped them achieve their freedom via prayers and financial donations.
