Breaking: EFCC Raid Former Governor Yahaya Bello’s Residence in Abuja

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has taken a crucial step by barricading the house of former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello in Wuse, Abuja.

The siege, which began immediately after Bello’s meeting with President Bola Tinubu, has blocked all traffic near Benghazi Street in Wuse Zone 4.

A reliable source shared, “EFCC barricades Bello’ house in Abuja. No movement in the area as EFCC barricaded the house. They are yet to gain access.”

While the exact cause for the EFCC’s decision is unknown, it is believed to be connected to the current N84 billion fraud investigation against Bello. The EFCC had earlier accused him with financial malfeasance worth N84 billion, claiming misappropriation of public monies prior to his entry of government.

The State Government, however, has criticized the charges as “ridiculous” and “laughable,” asserting that Bello couldn’t have misappropriated funds before officially holding office.

According to SaharaReporters, the EFCC filed a 17-count amended indictment against Bello in the Federal High Court for suspected money laundering. While several of the accused have appeared in court, Bello and one other person remain at large.

The situation is evolving as legal actions take place.
