The IED was allegedly set in Borno State by terrorists suspected of being members of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).
According to Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency specialist and security analyst, the event happened on Wednesday as the commercial truck was traveling on the Baga Road in the state’s Kukawa Local Government Area.
He said that the truck detonated after driving over an IED suspected to have been put near Mosquito Camp for Nigerian Army Sector 3 Operation Hadin Kai soldiers combating militants in the country’s north.
The wounded individuals were allegedly sent to a hospital in Monguno for treatment.
