28-year-old Womam “Keaiirra Shavoiyae Chidozie was arrested for the fatal shooting of her Nigerian husband, “ Michael Chidozie “
Charges have been filed against a suspect apprehended in the shooting of a man at 2634 Yorktown Street at 7:35 p.m.
The defendant, Keaiirra Shavoiyae Chidozie, 28, is charged with aggravated assault with a dangerous weapon in the 263rd State District Court. A booking picture of Chidozie is attached to this press release.
The man, 26, was transferred to a local hospital in serious condition.
HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Detective D. King reported:
Chidozie informed investigators that she and her Nigerian husband (victim) got into an argument that escalated and she began to worry for her safety. As she headed to the bedroom, her husband followed her and started to quarrel with her. Chidozie then took a handgun and shot her husband many times, shooting twice in the torso, once in the arm, and again in the chest.
She then fled the flat with the couple’s two children.
Chidozie was stopped in the parking lot and held by police officers. She was detained and later charged for her participation in the shooting. The youngsters were put in the care of a family member.
