Nigerian Army intercepts large quantity of cannabis hidden in commercial vehicle

Troops from the 35 Artillery Brigade intercepted a Mazda vehicle with Registration Number NRK 622 SB carrying a large quantity of suspected Cannabis Sativa at Mologbede village in Odeda LGA of Ogun State on Friday, 29 March 2024.

Brigadier General Mohammed Tajudeen Aminu, the Commander of the 35 Artillery Brigade, praised the troops for their actions and encouraged them to stay vigilant in their assigned areas.

The transfer of 441 parcels of Cannabis Sativa, each the size of a pawpaw, weighing 223kg, along with the Mazda vehicle, was handed over to the Ogun State Command of the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency on Tuesday, 03 April 2024.

Mohammed Goni, the Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the 35 Artillery Brigade, stated in a release that the Commander was represented by Major Gadzama Abdullahi, the Officer Commanding 35 Provost Company.

The release reiterated the Brigade’s commitment to working with other security agencies to combat crime and social issues within the State.

Commander of Narcotics Jane Ibiba Odili, the Commandant of the NDLEA Ogun State Command, expressed her enthusiasm for the collaboration between the military and other security forces in the State.

She acknowledged General Aminu’s genuine support for NDLEA operations, which has contributed to the Agency’s significant achievements.

She also highlighted that, with military support, the NDLEA has been able to expand its reach, dismantle drug networks, and make comprehensive progress in their fight against drug-related activities.
