Davido to sue Kenyan publication over April Fool’s Day prank

Nigerian artist Davido has broken his silence hours after an April Fools Day prank by a local Kenyan publication went viral, alleging that he had been arrested at the JKIA with a cocaine haul stashed inside a hidden compartment of his private jet. 

Davido, real name David Adedeji Adeleke, said he had not been arrested and was safely back in Nigeria after performing in Kenya and Uganda the past week. 

“I want to assure my fans that these reports are entirely untrue.” He remarked.

“I successfully completed my scheduled shows in Uganda and Kenya and have since returned home to Nigeria.”

The Afrobeats star  who was claims the prank article led to a barrage of calls and concern, said he has never been arrested in any of the numerous countries he has visited in his career. 

“I’d also like to note that I have never been arrested by anyone in any country for any crime in the world,” he said. 

“Not my home Nigeria, my home America, or any of the hundreds of countries I’ve made home throughout my career.”

At the same time, Davido revealed that his legal team was considering legal recourse against the media house for the publication of the falsehood.
