Drug: Northern man arrested for stabbing his brother to death over ‘sholi’ in Bauchi

The Bauchi Police Command has arrested a 30-year-old man, Isyaku Babale, for reportedly stabbing his older brother to death during an argument.

Babale allegedly assaulted his brother at their apartment in Anguwan Dawaki in the Bauchi Metropolis for cautioning him to stop ingesting cold Patch liquid commonly known as ‘Sholi’ in their chamber because of the terrible scent of the liquid.

He later fled to Kasunwan Shanu region where he was apprehended after a tip-off.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Ahmed Wakil, in a statement on Sunday, March 31, said: “They rushed the victim to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) but he was certified d£ad by a medical doctor.

The development prompted the detectives to initiate a manhunt for the suspect, who was apprehended near Kasuwan Shanu area of Bauchi metropolis.

Preliminary investigations conducted by the detectives revealed that the suspect used a knife and st@bbed his elder brother on the 31st March 2024 at about 0400hrs after an argument between them.

Further investigations revealed that both men were always fi¥hting using dangerous weapons.”
