Nigerian Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Executive Chairman Ola Olukoyede is certain that corruption and its attendant ills would be defeated.
This remark followed Easter messages from political and religious leaders nationwide about renewal, hope, and morality.
Olukoyede’s message drew a compelling analogy between the resurrection of Christ and the opportunity for Nigeria to rise above corruption. He highlighted that just as Christ defeated death, Nigerians could overcome the prevalent scourge of corruption that has long bedeviled the country.
By recalling the story of Easter, Olukoyede not only established a symbolic framework for understanding the fight against corruption but also tapped into the deep spiritual and cultural resonance of the event to urge change.
He asked Nigerians to embrace the characteristics of Christ, which are devoid of wickedness and deception, underlining the importance of individual efforts in battling corruption.
Olukoyede’s call to action was clear: Nigerians should make intentional efforts to cleanse themselves of all types of corruption and sharp practices in their attempts. This, he claimed, would not only improve the nation but also make it a better and more habitable place for all.
