Chief Justice of Nigeria, Olukayode Ariwoola, recently met President Bola Tinubu in Aso Rock, marking a landmark occasion in Nigeria’s judicial and executive partnership.
During their discussion, Tinubu expressed sincere thanks to the judges for their continuous devotion and underlined the important role of mutual assistance in moving Nigeria towards a better future.
Moreover, Tinubu emphasized his administration’s commitment to enacting measures targeted at enhancing the welfare and working circumstances of judicial personnel. Recognizing the problems encountered by the court, he underlined the need for modernization and proper remuneration for judicial personnel, underlining their important commitment to safeguarding justice in the country.
”I recognize that the judiciary has one of the most unrewarded responsibilities. They have yet to upgrade equipment and documentation, and their progress towards development is modest. When you look at the professional path of a judicial official, they cannot perform the job for which they were prepared after retirement. While the creators of the legislation may have their motivations, I interpret this differently and see this from a fair remuneration aspect that should benefit all,” President Tinubu affirmed.
In response, Chief Justice Olukayode Ariwoola congratulated Tinubu for his continuous devotion to judicial reforms and voiced confidence for the nation’s destiny under his leadership. Additionally, the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, offered thanks to Tinubu for his proactive measures in resolving the persistent problem of judges’ salaries.
The meeting between Chief Justice Ariwoola and Tinubu emphasizes the significance of collaboration between the judiciary and the administration in improving Nigeria’s legal system and guaranteeing justice for all people.
