NDLEA arrests man for alleged possession of hemp in Osun


The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Osun Command, says it has detained a 65-year- Old man, Dauda Lamidi, for suspected possession of cannabis sativa popularly called as hemp.

This is stated in a statement to newsmen by Mr Charles Odigie, the command’s spokesman, on Monday in Osogbo.

Odigie stated that the suspect was nabbed along the Ibadan -Iwo express road by soldiers of the command while on operational duty.

He said that the suspect was in possession of some dried material presumed to be hemp, packed within a two-litre gallon of motor oil.

He said that the stuff weighed roughly 1.550 kg.

According to him, the suspect is an ex-convict, who was convicted for identical offense in 2019 and was detained in a correctional institution for three years.
