Moment sheriff’s deputies are injured by high-speed driver in ‘ambush’ attack

A motorist who purposefully hit two Florida sheriff’s officers at high speed left them gravely wounded.

Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office released video of Thursday’s fatal ‘ambush-style’ assault.

A mother contacted police to a Brandon, Florida, neighborhood 10 miles outside of Tampa, to report her son’s mental health crisis.

The woman told dispatchers that she was ‘in fear’ or her son, who was behaving ‘violently,’ the HCSO said.

Deputies arrived at the home around 7.45am on Thursday morning, where they found the son, later identified as 28-year-old Ralph Bouzy.

‘Deputies tried to make contact with him, expressing they were there to help, but Bouzy refused to speak to them and drove away,’ the HCSO said.

Just 15 minutes later, Bouzy returned to the home and accelerated in the direction of the deputies, who were standing outside their patrol car.

One deputy managed to leap out of the way of the oncoming car, which smashed into the patrol car at a high speed. Two officers were struck in the terrifying crash.
